Delfast Fasteners gains dispatch efficiency with Dyno Conveyors

Delfast, a leading New Zealand supplier of fasteners and tooling, identified a bottleneck in their dispatch process and partnered with Dyno to implement a straightforward solution that significantly increased efficiency and improved workplace safety.

THE CHALLENGE

Delfast Fasteners aimed to eliminate inefficiencies in their box handling process.

Delfast Fasteners recognised that the loading and unloading of their flow wrapping machine was a constraint on their dispatch efficiency. Handling one box at a time was time-consuming and resource intensive. Furthermore, the manual process involved bending over, increasing the risk of injury, and the exiting packages could also be hot, posing an additional hazard.

The Solution

Gravity does the work for efficient outfeed

Dyno’s solution was the simple yet effective integration of a Lightroll PR Gravity Roller Conveyor on the outfeed of the flow wrapping machine. Incorporating a 90-degree bend and a 3-metre straight section with a slight decline, this allowed Delfast to continuously load the flow wrapper while the wrapped boxes gently rolled down the conveyor. Once full, the conveyor could be quickly, safely, and efficiently emptied.

The Result

Dramatic improvement in boxing and wrapping time

By implementing this basic gravity roller conveyor system, Delfast Fasteners achieved a remarkable 31% reduction in the time it took to box and wrap a pallet of nails. This simple yet effective solution not only increased their dispatch efficiency but also improved workplace safety by reducing manual handling and the risk associated with hot packages.
