THE CHALLENGE

ABB Switchgear, a global leader in pioneering technology for utility, industry, transportation, and infrastructure sectors, embarked on a planned upgrade of their assembly line in Henderson, Auckland.

Dyno collaborated closely with ABB Switchgear and Astro Lift to deliver a cutting-edge conveyor system that not only met but exceeded the client’s specific goals for automation and capacity.

ABB Switchgear sought to enhance the automation and capacity of their existing assembly line. This upgrade required a sophisticated conveyor system capable of handling specific weights and speeds, demanding precise calculations and integration. Furthermore, the client had clear ideas for the improved functionality of the line.

Dyno was tasked with translating these requirements into a practical and efficient solution, working in conjunction with Astro Lift, who provided the internal technology for the low-profile turntables that were a key component of the design.

The Solution

The resulting assembly line upgrade showcases a collaborative effort between Dyno, ABB Switchgear, and Astro Lift.

The almost futuristic-looking system incorporates:

  • Roller Pallet Conveyors: These provide robust and efficient transportation of heavier items and pallets along the assembly line.
  • Belt Pallet Conveyors: These offer smooth and consistent movement of products, accommodating various sizes and weights.
  • Low-Profile Turntables: Integrated with internal technology from Astro Lift, these turntables facilitate seamless changes in direction within the assembly process, optimising workflow.

Dyno not only designed and installed the conveyor system but also provided a comprehensive programme of support and services to ensure the facility would operate precisely as intended. This included meticulous calculations to accommodate the exact weight and speed parameters specified by ABB Switchgear.
