Applications

Carton and Box Handling

Dyno specializes in flawless carton and box flow. Our conveyor systems handle high volumes of boxes and crates – whether loading, aligning, accumulating or palletising them. Solutions are presented with the perfect product mix, all designed to protect packaged goods and maintain accuracy.

In dispatch and packing zones, Dyno conveyors have replaced trolleys and manual lifts, ensuring boxes travel right the first time, all while reducing labour costs and injuries. This also reduces damaged inventory and speeds packing. Across many projects, customers note that Dyno conveyors make moving cartons…simple and efficient.

Our Zero Pressure Accumulation (ZPA) systems are key to efficient and damage-free handling. These 24V DC powered roller conveyors meter cartons precisely, using smart sensors to create buffer zones where cartons stop without contact. This enables accumulation with no backpressure – perfect for fragile packaging or high-throughput applications. From gentle singulation at pack stations to high-speed palletiser feed lines, Dyno’s 24V DynoDrive systems ensure boxes flow exactly as needed.

For less automation smart applications, our Tranzband (lineshaft) conveyors deliver high-density accumulation and steady product flow. These systems are perfect for low-automation environments where accumulation, flexibility and lower upfront costs are critical. With their ability to handle a wide range of box sizes and maintain consistent product flow, they’re a staple in many pick/pack and distribution centres.

Results: Faster packing, fewer injuries, consistent product flow.

Carton and Box Handling

Common Carton and Box Handling Challenges

Moving cartons and boxes efficiently is essential for many operations. Dyno Conveyors provides simple yet effective solutions for warehouses, dispatch areas, and production lines, automating the transport and organisation of packaged goods.

Companies often encounter specific hurdles when managing the movement of cartons and boxes within their facilities. These challenges significantly impact productivity and operational costs, especially in high-volume environments. Dispatch operations, in particular, suffer when manual methods can’t keep pace with demand, leading to bottlenecks, delayed shipments, and frustrated customers.

Manual Transport Inefficiency

Hand-carrying or using trolleys for cartons is slow, labour-intensive, and prone to errors.

Bottlenecks at Workstations

High volumes of cartons can overwhelm manual processes, leading to queues and reduced productivity at packing or sorting stations.

Limited Space Utilisation

Inefficient layouts for carton movement can waste valuable floor space.

Product Damage

Manual handling increases the risk of cartons being dropped or damaged.

Inconsistent Flow

Without automated systems, the flow of cartons can be erratic, impacting overall operational rhythm.

HamiltonJet steers heavy-duty foundry operations with Dyno Conveyors

HamiltonJet is a long-standing name in New Zealand manufacturing. Founded by Bill Hamilton at Irishman Creek and operating from their Christchurch site since the 1940s, the company controls the entire production process for its world-renowned water jets - from raw aluminium ingot through to final assembly. In the foundry, where sand moulds are formed and cast, the team ran into a very practical problem. These moulds can weigh up to half a tonne, and the way they were being handled was putting strain on people and equipment alike. Add in the dust and grit of the foundry environment, and the existing setup was being pushed well beyond its limits. Looking for a solution that could handle the weight and survive the conditions, HamiltonJet turned to long-time partner Dyno Conveyors.

Zeagold Foods cracks packing challenges with custom Dyno system

Dyno Conveyors alleviated Zeagold Foods' congested packing area and ergonomic strain by implementing a custom conveyor system, significantly enhancing health and safety, and boosting productivity for their daily handling of hundreds of thousands of eggs. When handling about 650,000 eggs every day, even small inefficiencies can create big problems. That's exactly what Zeagold Foods, one of New Zealand's leading egg producers, discovered in their Otago packing facility. Staff were crammed into a congested workspace, constantly twisting and lifting heavy boxes in ways that raised health and safety concerns. “By putting in the Dyno conveyor system, we've been able to take that pressure away,” explains Paul Askey from Zeagold. What began as a staff welfare challenge became an opportunity for transformation when Dyno Conveyors stepped in with a custom solution that created a safer and more productive workplace.
