33% faster packing with less staff fatigue for Leeston Seeds

Leeston Seeds Ltd is a seed cleaning and treatment specialist just south of Christchurch. Seeds are dressed to screen out weeds and other unwanted matter before being packed in bags and loaded in containers for distribution. Treatment of some lines to prevent fungi, and pests is undertaken. This improves seed quality for clients to ensure healthy crop yields for grasses, cereals, peas and brassicas.

THE CHALLENGE

To load processed seed bags into containers, Leeston Seeds used an old chain elevator which was very heavy and not good for health & safety, so they looked around for a better alternative.

The Solution

Dyno's workable solution made things much easier

“Dyno came up with an option that met our needs well. It was a ‘telescopic’ conveyor that could be extended to deliver the seed bags to exactly where they were needed for container loading, without requiring belt adjustments every time. This ‘one step process’ eliminated previous multiple handling with forklifts, pallets, staff walking back and forth, and bending down for lifting.”
