DYNO TIPS & TUTORIALS
This guide will help you train on the correct method for joining drive bands on site or directly on conveyors. Dyno offers a range of standard drive bands. However, we understand that some breakdowns require immediate attention, or joining the bands directly on the conveyor is more practical than disassembling it.
Drive bands are typically made from urethane and are used to power rollers from a power source – mostly either a lineshaft or a motor-driven roller (MDR). This is a safe and cost-effective way to power a roller conveyor and can be very reliable if maintained correctly (refer to our ‘Tranzband Maintenance & Repair Guide’). A variety of strengths, colours, sizes and other properties exist, so consult the Dyno Conveyors team to determine the best option for your application and conveyor type. You can contact them via:

Ensure the band is not twisted as per image below.
Fully tighten the screws on the Dyno DB Welding Clamp.
Insert the preheated welding tool between the ends of the bands, ensuring it is perpendicular to the band as per image below.
Give a quick, firm squeeze to expel any air and then open the Dyno DB Welding Clamp.
IMPORTANT! Leave the band clamped in the Dyno DB Welding Clamp for a minimum of 5 minutes (use a timer) to ensure it is fully cooled and the joint has cured. Skipping this step (or reducing the time) will compromise the weld strength and may lead to premature failure.
Loosen the nuts and remove the band from the Dyno DB Welding Clamp.
Trim any excess urethane from around the weld using the provided clippers as per image below.
If bands are failing around the weld, double-check that you have followed the instructions above correctly. If other parts of the band are failing (developing flat spots, stretching, etc.), please consult our Tranzband Maintenance & Repair Guide.
