Powered Roller Conveyors

DynoDrive One 24v Brushless External Motor (pancake-style) | Powered Roller Conveyors

The DynoDrive One 24V Brushless External Motor is a premium drive solution designed for high-performance conveyor environments where uptime and control flexibility are paramount. By utilising an externally mounted 24V DC direct drive motor, this system removes the complexities of internal motorised rollers while providing superior torque and energy efficiency. Engineered to be paired with existing third-party industry controllers, this "One Motor" approach allows you to drive the best brushless motor technology using common industry controls you may already have on-site. It is designed for seamless integration into PLC-controlled environments or standalone ZPA zones, providing extreme reliability with plug-and-play simplicity.

Simple: Rugged M8 connector interface allows for simple, fast connections to your existing control architecture. Can be paired with common industry controllers from manufacturers like Pepperl+Fuchs, Interroll, and Bihl+Wiedemann.

Flexible: Mounted externally to the conveyor frame, the motor allows for rapid inspection and replacement without dismantling the conveyor bed. It also means it can easily adapt to a variety of roller sizes and conveyor widths, including retrofits to existing lines.

Strong: Engineered to deliver a high starting torque of 2.8 Nm (25 lbf-in), making it ideal for demanding start-stop applications and heavy unit loads.

Features, Benefits & Uses

Features & Benefits

  • High-Efficiency Brushless Technology The 24V DC brushless servo-motor provides superior torque-to-weight ratios and consistent performance without the wear parts found in brushed motors.
  • Gearless Direct Drive It produces high torque at low speeds without using failure-prone gear reducers, linkages, or drive chains, significantly reducing the number of moving parts.
  • Extreme Mechanical Longevity Robust bearings and a low maximum operating speed (350 RPM) result in a calculated bearing life of up to 200,000 hours.
  • Whisper-Quiet Operation With no internal gears or extraneous moving parts, the motor is almost silent even when operating at full power.
  • Simplified Maintenance and Spares Because only one part number needs to be stocked for various conveyor widths and roller sizes, you can significantly reduce your spare parts inventory.
  • Precision Velocity Management Integrated analog speed control (2.3 V to 10 V DC) and forward/reverse inputs allow for precise handling of sensitive or heavy products.
  • Real-Time Diagnostics The “NoFault” output provides immediate feedback to your control system, allowing for proactive maintenance before a failure occurs.
  • Enhanced Thermal Performance External mounting on metal surfaces facilitates better heat dissipation compared to internal drives, ensuring stability during high-cycle operations.

Uses

  • High-speed PLC-controlled sorting and distribution lines.
  • Retrofitting existing conveyor lines using third-party control cards.
  • Manufacturing environments requiring frequent maintenance access.
  • Zero Pressure Accumulation (ZPA) systems where product integrity is a high priority.

How zoning works with DynoDrive

  • A DynoDrive motor is fitted at regular intervals along the length of the conveyor, this enables the loads to be automatically controlled in ‘zero pressure zones’.
  • The stop / start action of these motors is automatically controlled by photocell sensors fitted at each end of the zone, these send information to the control card link to that motor.
  • As the loads are conveyed along the conveyor, the photocell sensors inform the control card that product is present. The control card then checks that the forward zone is unoccupied. If the zone is clear, the downstream motor starts thus enabling the product to be passed forward where the action is repeated.
  • If however, the downstream zone is occupied then the control card stops the motor immediately under the product until the downstream zone is clear.
  • In the event that no loads are present or moving on the conveyor, then zones are stopped effectively saving energy.
