YOUR TRUSTED CONVEYOR PARTNER SINCE 1981

About us

At Dyno Conveyors, we help businesses like yours move products efficiently. Since 1981, we’ve been providing conveyor solutions that simplify complex logistics, helping you get your products to market with ease.

Our Journey

Right from the beginning, Dyno has always been driven by innovation. Today, this is paired on over 40 years of experience in designing, manufacturing and supplying conveyors and components. We quickly gained a reputation for solving problems and became a trusted conveyor solutions partner for many businesses across New Zealand, Australia and the world.

We started by supplying conveyors to the meat and fruit industries. Early on, it became clear that standard conveyors weren’t always suitable for the unique products our customers were moving. Drawing on our knowledge of conveyor principles and a deep understanding of customer needs, we started designing and manufacturing our own systems. We wanted to ensure every conveyor truly worked for its specific purpose.

Over the years, we’ve continued to innovate and adapt. We stay current with the latest conveyor technology and practices through strong partnerships with local and global industry experts. This has allowed us to become a go-to provider, offering a wide range of conveyor solutions—from small standalone units to complete automated inline systems for diverse industries. Our expertise ensures that moving cartons, crates, and pallets is simple and efficient for you.

Our Purpose

Our Mission: We exist to make it easy for businesses to take their product to the world.

Our Values: CAPAW!

  • Care – We care for you and your equipment like its our own. That means looking after our own team and suppliers too!
  • Action – We prioritise getting stuff done rather than just talking about it – that also means we don’t wait for problems, we act to prevent them before they arise.
  • Partnerships – Our business is built on strong partnerships – from supply chain right through to our maintenance technicians, and of course, you as the client. Partnerships for the lifetime of your system is what we believe in.
  • Accountability – Keeping ourselves accountable ensures full ownership of every part of the process. It also means we do what we say, backing it up with tangible actions.
  • Winners – Everyone needs to be a winner, our supply chain and maintenance partners, us, and of course – you! When we are all winning, it means we can be sustainable, profitable and keep growing to ensure support for the long run.

Dyno partners with you for conveyor solutions. We understand your business, analyse needs, present a strong business case, and deliver. Expect ongoing support and a lasting relationship.

1980s

Early Beginnings

Founding director, Trevor Cornes, truly understood conveyors from his early days. He spent time after school, working for his brother-in-law, who assembled these systems. Trevor then completed an engineering apprenticeship with a local engineer and started developing the mould for the future Dyno Chain.

1989

Business Acquisition

Trevor acquired the assembly segment of the business from his brother-in-law. He continued assembling conveyors for fruit packhouses and meat processing plants across Hawke’s Bay.

1990

Launching TRANZBAND

We developed our own lineshaft-powered roller conveyors, specifically designed to better accommodate apple cartons with their unique roller pitch. This system, officially named ‘TRANZBAND’, saw its initial implementation at Silver Fern Farms in Hastings.

1991

NZ's First Tapered Roller

Collaborating with a local company, Trevor created New Zealand’s first single-piece rotationally moulded tapered roller, designed for easy product tracking around bends.

1992

Launching Dyno 300 Chain

This year marked a pivotal moment with the expansion of our product range to include the Dyno 300 Chain. This chain, which gave Dyno its very name, was designed specifically to overcome customer challenges that other solutions couldn’t address. It embodies our enduring commitment to solving problems. While the foundational die design remains, we’ve continuously refined and improved it year on year, enhancing quality and performance for our customers, and introducing new types and materials to meet diverse industry needs.

1995

Relocation to Invercargill

Trevor and his family relocated to Invercargill, continuing to supply conveyor systems and extending beyond the Hawke’s Bay Region.

1999

Innovative Pipe Development

Dyno collaborated with a local plastic extruder to produce the diameter 48mm Dyno Pipe PVC. We sought a durable, impact-resistant, and cost-effective material. Following various trials, a suitable material emerged, similar to that used in roadside markers, which we continue to use today.

2000

In-House Steel Rollers

We began manufacturing our own steel rollers after acquiring appropriate tooling and machinery. This involved searching globally for reliable suppliers of specialist bearings.

2008

Australian Expansion

Dyno partnered with a trusted industry expert to deliver its first conveyor system to the Australian fruit industry.

2009

Global Product Sourcing

Trevor attended materials handling trade shows in America and Europe. There, he discovered new, distinctive products, which he brought back to New Zealand for further development.

2010

Website Launch

Dyno’s first website was launched, providing a platform to showcase our capabilities.

2011

Qimarox Partnership

Dyno became a trusted partner of Qimarox, a Dutch supplier of vertical conveyors. Our first vertical lift was supplied for a project in Lower Hutt.

2012

Telescopic Conveyor Partnership

We partnered with Newland Conveyors in the UK to supply advanced telescopic conveyors. These systems were deployed to greatly reduce manual handling during container devanning, improving efficiency and helping to prevent injuries for workers.

2014

Direct Customer Focus

To gain a deeper understanding of our customers’ needs and ensure they received conveyors that truly met their requirements, Dyno began direct collaboration with end-users.

2016

First Tradeshow

Our inaugural tradeshow saw Dyno exhibiting at Food Tech Pack Tech, displaying a range of conveyor solutions.

2017

Cap Solutions Acquisition

Dyno acquired Cap Solutions. This strategic acquisition further enhanced our capabilities and expanded our market presence.

2018

Itoh Denki Agreement

We secured a supplier agreement with Itoh Denki, one of Japan’s leading 24V powered roller manufacturers. This partnership allows us to expand our range of 24V powered roller conveyors, offering an energy-efficient and low-maintenance option.

2020

Sanitiser Tunnel Innovation

During the challenges of lockdown, the Dyno team focused on developing a sanitiser tunnel alongside Amazon. This tunnel was designed to effectively sanitise products as they passed through, forming part of our contribution to curbing the spread of Covid-19.

2021

Sustainable Redesign

All our conveyor designs underwent redevelopment. The aim was to enhance safety, minimise the need for guarding, and incorporate more sustainable, easily recyclable materials.

2023

New Headquarters: Faster, Greener Production

Dyno moved into its new, purpose-built Invercargill facility. Designed for sustainability with advanced insulation and low-energy systems, this headquarters significantly boosts our production capabilities. This means we can manufacture more efficiently, reduce lead times, and deliver your high-quality conveyor solutions faster, reflecting our commitment to both the environment and your success.

What our clients say about Dyno Conveyors

Jack Anderson, Zeffer Brewing | Customer Testimonial

“We couldn’t have done it without Dyno. I am really happy with the design and the way it came out. Dyno were very receptive to any changes I wanted to make and had good recommendations. They’re competitively priced with good customer service. If we needed to change our packaging line again, I’d definitely use Dyno.”

Candy MacLaughlin, Skybury | Customer testimonial

“Dyno offered a modern approach and really understood our needs, even for our niche papaya product. They custom built a solution for us, which gave us good flow and movement of fruit in a good time frame. This will allow us to create efficiencies and the growth that we need for the future.”

Candy MacLaughlin

Skybury

Mark MacLaughlin, Skybury | Customer Testimonial

“Papaya is not a common crop here, so not many companies have dealt with papaya systems. Dyno’s cost came in under competitors for a similar system. Our new facility will do 200 to 300 tonnes a day with ease, and we now have two identical packing lines for contingency.”

Alex Chubb, Würth New Zealand | Customer testimonial

“We had some apprehension about moving into an automated system, but now that we’ve gotten into it and found our feet with it, it has been fantastic. It has really solved a lot of the problems that I think we’d initially thought of – they’ve made it really suit our operation perfectly.”

Ashley Coulson, EBOS Healthcare | Customer testimonial

“From the concept stages, Dyno understood our complex requirements and worked through these to present a concept that not only made operational sense to our immediate requirements but offered scope for future expansion of this original design. I am very happy with the product and service Dyno provided and continues to provide on an on-going basis.”

EBOS Healthcare

Lynda Ashby, Gala Berry | Customer testimonial

“Nothing was ever a problem. All our lines that Dyno produced for us were all new to them, but they really grasped and understood what we were trying to achieve. This really impressed us so when we wanted more lines and tables, we had no hesitation that Dyno would produce exactly what we needed. We would have no hesitation in recommending Dyno to anyone. Even if they have never undertaken what you are requiring, they will make it work. And in our case, even better than our original plan! The follow-up service has been second to none, and nothing is ever left to chance.”

Ryan Datson, ABB Switchgear | Customer testimonial

“Dyno has provided equipment to us to complete an upgrade of our production line which included rotary conveyor and belt driven units in September 2013. I am pleased with their level of service and support, from design and concept development, through to post-commissioning. In particular, they have exceeded my expectations with support given in the past, such as lending tools for repairs and fast response to urgent requirement for fabrication of spare parts. The level of quality and finish of their components has always been high. I would be happy to recommend Dyno to any potential customer.”

Anthony Lane, USL Medical | Customer testimonial

“USL Medical supplies both large and small healthcare products to New Zealand healthcare providers and patients. Our aim is to be the market leader in healthcare distribution. To achieve this we developed a purpose built warehouse in 2013 which allowed us to design a layout which would give us an increase in productivity and warehouse efficiencies. Part of the design was to implement a conveyor system which would reduce pickers travel time.

We chose Dyno for the conveyor design. From the initial meeting we felt confident that they understood what we wanted to achieve. The sales consultant was very professional in his dealing with us and never once tried to over complicate the design. The project was delivered on time, and the implementation of the conveyor was seamless. We have achieved the results that we were aiming for. If in the future we decide to extend the conveyor, we will definitely use Dyno to take care of our conveyor requirements.”

Matthew Metcalfe, Dairy Products NZ | Customer testimonial

“Throughout the build and design of our facility, Dyno has been a great resource to draw on to enhance our process flows using roller solutions. The team are knowledgeable, efficient and helpful throughout the process and supply quality solutions for any budget. We will continue to source our roller solutions through Dyno as we grow and would recommend their products to anyone in the industry.”

Marty Patterson, Otago Daily Times | Customer testimonial

“This time I needed something that was exclusive to Otago Daily Times (ODT) and our particular publishing needs. Dyno seemed an obvious option with the regular contact the sales consultants made with the office, and with a reminder by an advert in the trade magazine, I gave them a call.

It was all smooth sailing from the start. The team from Dyno came up, we talked through our needs, gave them a sample of what we wanted with the worst scenarios that could happen and they went away with it Dyno customised a system for ODT, including using their Tranzbelt conveyor system and a the unique Ultraslip product for the spiral conveyor – a super slippery plastic ideal for the job. After a bit of tweaking here and there, we awarded them the contract. Certainly price had something to do with it as the quote was cost-effective but the team delivered – not a problem.

There were never any issues during the process as most of it was done prior to manufacture. Dyno kept us seamlessly in the loop and we always knew where we were with them. This eliminated any potential stress. Our new Dyno conveyor system is robust, durable and looks impressive and most importantly does the job we intended it to do.”
